Neighbors Connect Digital Access Program
Our response to recent destabilizing is events is to provide holistic support including free laptops and culturally responsive education. This program is open to any individual, family or business located in Hennepin County.
We have partnered with Hennepin County and the Sabathani Community Center to create the Neighbors Connect Digital Access Program.
Digital Skills Training
Culturally responsive, trauma-informed curriculum design acknowledging technology barriers faced by marginalized communities
Learning approach combines in-person instruction and self-paced materials
Learning models utilizing community leaders as co-facilitators and cultural bridges
Life-skills integration connecting technology training directly to participants' immediate goals in education, employment, and healthcare
Innovation and Engagement Methods
Storytelling approach connecting technology skills to personal narratives and cultural experiences
Gamification elements for skills practice, retention, and motivation
Community showcase events celebrating participant achievements and building confidence
Programs pairing tech-confident participants with newcomers for support
Neighbors Connect for Family and Individuals
This program helps families and individuals get digital access. The training session will go over day to day digital skills like:
Understand how to power on computer
Connect to internet
Open browser
Check email
Join and access Google Meet
During the training we will go over how to access the Northstar digital literacy program. This will allow participants to further their digital knowledge. Once the participant completes their training they will be given a no-cost laptop. Click the button below if you would like to register for our upcoming training sessions.
Neighbors Connect for Businesses
This part of the program helps businesses get digital access. The training sessions are geared more towards learning about technology that supports them in their daily business operations. These training sessions will go over tasks like:
Getting started with your new laptop
Email, files, and basic business workflows
Safe and secure use of technology
Tools to help your business stay organized and efficient
After the training session is complete participants will receive their no-cost laptops as well as get signed up for 25 hours of free IT support.
